OLYMPIA, WASH. – Dec. 4, 2020 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will hold its annual planning meeting virtually on Wednesday, Dec 9.
The agenda includes an update on director hiring and legal process requirements; discussion about the agency’s 2020 accomplishments; and the director’s evaluation. The commission and staff will also discuss 2021 priorities and expectations.
The Commission will not make any decisions during the planning meeting, as this is not a regular meeting. The public is invited to attend via WebEx, phone or in person at the State Parks Headquarters in Tumwater, but no public comment will be taken.
In compliance with the Public Open Meetings Act, a meeting space is available for the public to come and watch the meeting. Commissioners and staff will participate remotely and will not be onsite/in-person.

The Commission has five regular meetings a year in pre-determined locations around the state. Time for public comment is provided at all regular meetings. A full agenda for the planning meeting is available on the Parks website.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is made up of seven citizen volunteers appointed by the governor to staggered six-year terms. The commission is charged with providing policy direction for the agency.
