OLYMPIA – Aug. 20, 2015 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission today announced the cancellation of this year’s Celebrating Cultures event at Pearrygin Lake State Park, due the effects from wildfires in the area.
The annual event was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29 at the park, which is just outside the town of Winthrop.
As of today, Aug. 20, Pearrygin Lake State Park is also closed at least through Monday, Aug. 24. However, because conditions during wildfires can change rapidly, State Parks recommends that people wanting to get updates about Pearrygin Lake and other state parks should visit the Parks Alert Center online at: www.parks.wa.gov/AlertCenter.aspx?CID=9,">. From here, visitors can sign up to receive text or email alerts.
