15-029 State Parks seeks public input on management plan update for Beacon Rock State Park

Public meeting scheduled for June 11

OLYMPIA – May 28, 2015 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites the public to participate in updating the management plan for Beacon Rock State Park, located near the town of Stevenson in the Columbia River Gorge.

The public planning process will kick off with an informational workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 11, at the Hegewald Center, 710 SW Rock Creek Dr., Stevenson. (Directions: https://goo.gl/maps/Df29H) The updated plan will address changes that have occurred at the park including property acquisition, evolving recreational needs and resource management issues. This review will result in updated management recommendations for the park.

State Park staff will be available at the June 11 meeting to answer questions and take comments. State Parks will also provide a sign-up opportunity for those interested in serving on a climbing advisory committee. The public may also provide comments online. More information about how to comment and background information is at: http://j.mp/BeaconRock.
