Keep the waters clean
The federal Clean Vessel Act provides funds to help reduce pollution from recreation vessel sewage discharges into U.S. waters. Funding come from taxes on the sales of fishing equipment and on recreational boating fuel. Washington State Parks makes grants to both public and private sector boating facility operators for the construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of pumpout and dump stations for use by recreational boaters. The program also provides boater education to promote public awareness about boat sewage and its proper disposal.
Washington boaters prevented millions of gallons of sewage from contaminating our waters by using Clean Vessel Act-supported pumpout facilities and mobile pumpout services.
