The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites the public to an informational open house to learn more about the development of a safe crossing where the trail intersects State Route 6 at mile post 48. At the open house, alternative crossing options will be introduced. State Parks is seeking feedback on these alternatives.
The primary purpose of this project is to remove the existing at-grade crossing at mile post 48 and replace it with a crossing that separates vehicles from trail users. Key issues include:
Exploration of alternative crossing concepts
Consideration of aesthetics and landscaping
Comparison of cost estimates
At the open house, participants will view individual designs at separate stations. At each station, a representative will answer questions. Participants will provide their comments in writing so that their opinions and concerns may be recorded and later posted on our web page. After the open house, alternatives will be posted to this web page.
All comments will be considered in the analysis of alternatives. A second public open house will be held in winter 2019 to present a preliminary recommendation for public review. The first open house will be on November 29th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Veterans Memorial Museum 100 SW Veterans Way, Chehalis, WA 98532.
